What to expect
Initial Consultation
Your first appointment will be the Initial Consultation which will last 1hr 20mins for adults and 1hr 10mins for children. An adult must be present for all minor (0-17 years old) consultations.

At this stage a detailed and thorough case history of your presenting complaint will be taken along with some general health questions. Once you’ve presented your case the consultation will move on toward the general osteopathic examination. At this point depending on your complaint, you may be asked to undress down to your underwear/shorts/leggings to enable the practitioner to observe your posture; you then may be asked to perform a series of spinal movements which will inform the practitioner of your range of movement.
This will be followed by an in-depth examination of the area of complaint which may include; moving of the joints, muscle testing, and any specific additional testing if required. From the case history and the examination, a diagnosis will be made and the practitioner will discuss with you your treatment and management plan.
Continuing Consultation
Should you choose to make a follow up appointment, it’ll last 60 minutes. The first few minutes may be spent on finding out how you are since the previous treatment, and it allows you to give any feedback or mention a new presenting complaint. The remainder of the appointment will include a quick examination of the area of complaint followed by treatment. Depending on the individual, exercises and self-management advice may be given.
